Overview

Despite being situated off the main thoroughfare, the Stockbridge Restaurant has become an established favourite among locals who are drawn by first-rate Scottish cuisine and warm, friendly service, as well as harvesting numerous accolades in the 12 years since owners Jason Gallagher and Jane Walker took the helm.

Nestled on the basement level of Edinburgh’s beautiful, cobbled St. Stephen’s Street, the Stockbridge Restaurant pride themselves on providing a fine dining experience without the pretentious association. Discarding the growing popularity of edgy eateries in Edinburgh, this family-run restaurant has managed to maintain a traditional dining experience for clientele – white table cloths and polished silver – while putting a creative and modern flare on the classic Scottish dishes served.

Chef Jason takes the reins in the kitchen; sourcing all ingredients himself to ensure the finest quality of food comes into his kitchen, thus guaranteeing high quality dishes arrive at the guests’ table. A Two AA rosette chef, you’ll find him in the kitchen of the Stockbridge Restaurant every night while his partner Jane is the friendly face welcoming you as you descend down the steps to this romantic, decadent, culinary grotto.

Offering diners a set menu - 2 courses - £26.95 or 3 courses £31.95 available Tuesday to Friday – as well as an a la carte menu brimming with seasonal delights, and to top it off, Sundays are BYOB at with 1 course - £18.95, 2 courses - £26.95 and 3 courses £31.95 (BYOB £4 corkage Per Bottle & £5 for champagne) - keeping the cost down for weekend diners and a favourite with the city’s restaurant teams who are often off on a Sunday. Dinner for two excluding drinks can range from £50 upwards, a reasonable price range given the exceptional quality of the food provided.
