HEADS & TALES – SCOTTISH GIN FOCUSED BAR 

 

Head & Tales – Edinburgh’s newest gin joint. Using the best spirits, beers, soft drinks and wines that we can find; along with local, seasonal, fresh products – quality is of utmost importance to us, so come and experiment with gin in Edinburgh’s West End.

 

Below the streets of Edinburgh, there is a bar serving up a wide variety of gins and cocktails alongside the copper pot stills of a working distillery. Heads & Tales is situated in the basement of Signature Pub Group’s Rutland Hotel at the west end of Princes Street. 

 

The name is a spin on the heads and tails which are the first and last parts of the spirit when it comes off the still.

 

Formerly occupied by nightclub The One Below, it has been transformed into a 70-cover bar by leading hospitality design practice Tibbatts Abel which also worked on The Huxley bar on the ground floor. 

 

Heads & Tales is the new home of Edinburgh Gin who have installed two stills, 1 column and 1 pot still within the bar, named Flora & Caledonia. This gives customers a rare opportunity to see gin distilling while they relax over a cocktail or two. Sharing this fantastic space with Edinburgh Gin and their new distillery (supported by Heriot Watt University) , allows their team of top bartenders the opportunity to share knowledge, try new recipes and a mixture of old and new styles of gin. 

 

Customers are be able to take part in a gin-making experience, creating their own specific varieties.  The distillery and bar complex also offer a corporate hire experience with gins designed to complement the occasion.  

 

Open Tuesday to Sunday, it operates as a visitor experience about gin in the daytime and then becomes a bar from 5pm

 

The bar also serves a delectable selection of carefully sourced local morsels- thoughtfully created and produced boards – charcuterie, cheese and fish with breads available.  And should your heart desire it, warm freshly prepared breads can also be ordered. 

 

For those who do not fancy a mixed drink, they have  a wide array of beers, wines, spirits and premium softs. Many of their drinks feature Heads & Tales’ very own infusions and syrups – made by‘tenders with the freshest, local ingredients they can find.
